Laptop BIOS Repair

It is important that you know the bios is faulty before using the service. If you are not sure then you could be wasting your cash even sending the laptop to us.

All Recovery options should have been tried before using the Laptop BIOS Repair service. We are able to repair BIOS on Acer, Asus, Compaq, ECS, HP, Uniwill, Fujitsu, MSI, and other makers laptops.

Some older laptops often have removable EEPROM and the BIOS can be serviced quite easily. However this is not typical of all makers machines and is certainly not the case with most modern laptops.

If your laptop has a removable EEPROM then you can replace it easily. If the laptop in question has a soldered BIOS CHIP or EEPROM then the task is a little more difficult.

Laptop Soldered BIOS Repair Service

Most laptops nowadays have soldered EEPROM, typically these could be PLCC, VSOP, TSOP or SPI Serial flash Packages.

Some of these EEPROM are relatively easy to change if you have the correct equipment. If you cannot change the part yourself then you are welcome to send in the laptop base unit for repair. We can supply most parts from stock.

Items such as display screen, hard drive and CDROM can be removed to save weight on shipping. Cost of the laptop Soldered BIOS Repair service is £49.99, plus return shipping at cost.. £25.00 of which is payable when you send the laptop in to us.

This service is offered for PLCC, TSOP, SPI and VSOP chips only, We can only complete this repair if your manufacturer releases suitable ROM or Binary files for your board. All recovery options or flash recovery jumpers should have been tried before using this service.

Even though you may have tried any recovery options yourself, we also try ourselves where possible to recover the bios of any machine that is sent to us for BIOS repair. Removing the CMOS chip is really a last resort.

If your Laptop BIOS chip is soldered directly to the mainboard, the old chip can be removed and replaced with a programmed chip and surface mount socket. You can either attempt a repair yourself, or you can send in the laptop and we will attempt to repair it for you.

Your old CMOS or BIOS chip will be removed and replaced with a surface mount PLCC 32 pin socket. Once the PLCC 32 pin socket has been fitted, we can then proceed to try the BIOS codes available for your model.

Laptop BIOS Codes

Unlike most desktop motherboards usable laptop BIOS Codes can be hard to find. There are cases where the manufacturer no longer supports the board and will not supply the codes necessary to complete the repair. It really depends on the individual companies policies. Some will not help if your machine is out of warranty.
If you have your BIOS backed up and need a chip programmed just send me a copy with the BIOS chip part number and I will prepare one for you.
