Symptoms of a Blocked Heat exchanger
If your laptop heat exchanger is blocked, the first thing you will notice is the fan running at high speed in a vain attempt to cool the CPU and GPU.
Of course this serves no purpose, as no air can pass through the heat exchanger if it is blocked.
Consequently the fans spin at high speed and does not slow down, the system knows its geting hot and is trying to do something about it. If the heat exchanger is blocked it doesn't matter how fast your fan spins it will not do its job effectively.
Probably the second thing you will notice is the fact that the laptop gets very hot. if you continue to use the laptop in this condition it is very likely that other more serious damage will occur.
