Lenovo 3000 n200
We recently had one of these machines in for repair. EEPROM fitted was SPI Serial flash 5.4 mm 1MB in size. the EEPROM was removed reprogrammed and replaced, when finaly reassembled the laptop booted first time around.
The SPI serial flash eeprom is relatively easy to change, we used the opportunity to make our latest video.
The board had to be removed completely to locate the eeprom
EEPROM Removal-Refit
Watch the video for a better idea of the process involved. A hot air station is being used for this particular part. Watch carefully towards the end of the video, as you will see the eeprom snap into position when being refitted.
When all 8 pins have reached the desired temperature and the joints become fluid, capillary action then drags the device into its final resting position in a spit second. You have to watch the video very carefully to see it
When using the hot air station to rework EEPROMs, ambient temperature should be quite high or you will be struggling to reflow the soldered joints.
