BIOS Chip Repair and Replacement Service

BIOS chip Repair and Replacement service, for Desktop and Laptop Computers and other equipment that use flash memory devices.

We have a lot of Laptop and Mainboard BIOS Chips Available from the Programmed Section of the web site, with more being added on a daily basis.

BIOS replacement is often necessary after a failed or bad flash, and is a cheaper alternative to replacing the mainboard which can be a very expensive exercise.

Repairing the BIOS is simply a matter of replacing the damaged or missing code stored within the EEPROM or flash BIOS chip. Although uncommon, the BIOS chips or CMOS Chips can develop errors and may just need to be replaced.

Soldered BIOS Chip Repair Service

Soldered BIOS Chip Repair Service for Laptop and Desktop Mainboards. Most modern laptop/Desktop Mainboards now use SPI Serial Flash EEPROM, some even have ZIFF Sockets fitted for SOIC Type BIOS Chips..

Modern Laptops in comparison are mainly using soldered SOIC SPI Serial Flash parts, rather than PDIP SPI Flash or Socketed SOIC parts. Older Laptops and Desktops would use PLCC, TSOP or VSOP EEPROM Types.

If you do not want to do the work yourself, we offer a Soldered BIOS Repair Service, you will need to read the terms and conditions on the individual pages before using the various services.

DIY Soldered PLCC BIOS Chip Removal

If you are handy with a soldering iron and want to attempt to remove and replace a soldered PLCC BIOS chip yourself, then check out this page DIY soldered BIOS Repair it may save you a few headaches.

This procedure is not recommended for any other type of part ONLY PLCC 32 and should be used as a last resort. We would Normally use a hot air station here to remove these parts and this is one the recommended methods. Quick Chip a low melting Solder Alloy can also be used for chip removal to good affect.

Password Issues

We do not specialise in password removal and other than the limited information we have, we can offer no more practical advice. If you need to remove a BIOS Password then try this page Passwords and Security.

CMOS Battery

Some machines will not boot at all if these button cell batteries are at a low voltage. CMOS Battery Voltage should be between 3.0 volts and 3.3 volts, if it drops below 2.8 then the battery will soon need to be replaced.

Problem Motherboards

In the unlikely event that a new BIOS doesn't resolve your problem's then your motherboard or other associated hardware may be faulty. If the file used to program the chip is the correct one and you still have an Issue then the board and or other vital hardware has to be suspect.

It pays to remove any unnecessary hardware when trying to recover from a no boot situation. It is Very important that you know your board has had a bad flash before you use this service, and that you know the model and revision number of your motherboard and BIOS chip part number. I will need this information to properly program a chip for you.

If you just suspect the BIOS to be the reason for no graphic's or no boot, then using this service is merely speculation and the outcome may not be favourable as the problem could lie elsewhere.
