About Grains BIOS Repair est. 2005-2006

We are actively engaged in repairing/replacing Flash BIOS for PC's, Laptops, and other equipment that use a Flash ROM type chip or EEPROM.

Stock consists of mainly SPI Serial Flash, PLCC, DIP, VSOP and TSOP EEPROM. We have SPI Serial Flash chips in both SOIC and PDIP in stock up to 64Mb in capacity. We are able to offer a Worldwide chip programming service.

About Paul the Owner

Qualified Marine Electrical Fitter having served a full electrical/electronic apprentiship with a Marine BIOS (1971 to 1975), Pemberton and Dotcham at Cardiff, Barry, Newport and Swansea)

Spent a few years at sea and have visited many different countries around the world during my younger days.

Credits if any would have to go to my mentors at Pemberton and Dotcham (Parent Co. C.H. Bailey), Remarkable people whom I Shall never forget, without whom I would not have had the insight to pursue this vocation and am grateful of having the opportunity to do so.

Freedom of Information

I am a great believer in freedom of information although I still feel sometimes that I am Gagged and bound by certain companies, although in reality this is not the case. In my opinion any Company producing Pc's mainboard's or Laptops should make all drivers and complete bios files available for their customers benefit.

If a company fails to do do this i. e. offer real and proper customer support, then they are either incompetent, or are withholding proper support for some other dark sinister reason. And it certainly cannot be said that they care for their customers.

Issues with BIOS Files

If we have any issues with any manufacturers BIOS Files, then these issues will be depicted on the Various Makers pages in the programmed BIOS Section of the web site.

Grains Developing PHP Shop

Am currently adding many new products to a new section of the web site located here.

http://www.bios-repair.co.uk/Shop. This section is still under development but will contain a wider variety of Components. We are looking for volunteers to test the shop, don't listen to what the army boys tell you, please volunteer, any mistakes will be rectified.

Please feel welcome to make suggestions and request new products, and please attempt to use it and let us know of your experiences there.

The shop may eventually find a domain name of its own, however until development is complete it will remain a Sub Directory of the grains bios repair main web site.

Device Programming

PLCC Extractor

PLCC Extractor Image

Device programming is something I do every day here as part of my work. I am able to program many different Devices including the following, 8 Pin SPI Serial Flash in both SOIC and PDIP. 32, 44 and 52 pin PLCC EEPROM's, MCU, and also 32, 40, 48 pin and 56 pin TSOP EEPROM types.

We are currently expanding the range SPI devices that we keep in stock.

We currently stock many different makers devices, Winbond, Macronix, Intel, EON, SST and other makers devices held in stock.

Other EEPROM types would require additional adapter's, our programmers will burn most types of EEPROM and adapters are purchased as and when the need arises.

EEPROM's

We stock a good range of PLCC, DIP, PDIP, TSOP, VSOP and SPI Flash types.. Parts are normally added to stock based on the number of customer inquiries we receive for any particular part.

If we receive a lot of requests for a part that is not in stock, we will consider stocking it and adding the chip to the range of available EEPROM's that we currently stock.
Additions are made on a regular basis, and we do try to keep the parts mentioned on the EEPROM page in stock. Usually parts are re ordered before we run out entirely. Older parts are being replaced with modern lead free types where possible....
